CHICAGO EXECUTIVE BOARD HONORS EDWIN ZARLING, MD, FACPE
Dr Edwin J. Zarling, MD, FACPE, Associate Chief of Staff at North Chicago VA Medical Center was recognized for exemplary performance at an awards luncheon in Chicago May 12. During the awards ceremony, Dr. Zarling was recognized as one of three “finalists” for the Outstanding Supervisory Employee.
Nearly 700 nominees from more than 60 federal agencies in the Chicago area competed for this year’s awards. The Chicago Federal Executive Board’s “Federal Employee of the Year” program covers 178 federal agencies and more than 78,000 federal employees in an 11-county area near Chicago. The awards recognize outstanding performance and valuable contributions made by federal employees as they serve the nation. Each year, federal employees from the Chicago Metropolitan area are recognized for their dedication and commitment. Nominations are evaluated by panels of federal employees who select finalists in each category. The categories that employees can be nominated for are professional employee, technical/program support employee, trade and crafts employee, program specialist, community service employee, public contact employee, team, supervisory employee, law enforcement employee, secretarial/clerical employee and law enforcement team.
Dr Zarling was recognized for his mentoring work that enhanced team function in the Primary Care Department, improving patient and staff satisfaction, and markedly advancing clinical performance measures to be one of the top VA programs in the country.
